FRESH START

Fresh Start Charity in East Anglia supports 16-24 year-olds who are classed as NEET (not in education, employment or training) offering them a six-month work experience programme. They are taught many transferrable work skills in the retail, hospitality, warehouse management, and drivers mate and customer service, which can help towards getting jobs in these industries. They are also offered 1-1 support for any mental health issues and help to build their self confidence. Fresh Start aims to have approx. 1,000 young people experience their training - the 6 month programme and general work experience - within three years.

QUOTE FROM FRESh START:

“At the time the charity started four years ago as a Foodbank, it was brought to my attention the growing problem of teenagers not getting the support they needed. The Covid Pandemic has escalated the number of NEET across the UK with recent published figures suggesting there are nearly 800,000. Our programme has been very successful and the grant we have received from CABWI is helping us to help more young people.”

QUOTE FROM BENEFICIARY:

“Since working at Fresh Start I’ve become more confident by the day. A year ago I would’ve barely left my house and was almost sure that this was how my life was going to be for the foreseeable future. I’ve gained people skills and now have the confidence to spark conversation with just about anyone - the customers that come in on a regular are absolute diamonds and I value each and every one of them. I’m thankful for these new beginnings and can’t wait to expand my skills further.”
