At the Down Syndrome Development Trust (DSDT), we have been empowering children and young people with Down Syndrome across Sussex since 2013. Our mission is to help individuals with Down Syndrome and other disabilities unlock their potential and lead fulfilling, meaningful lives.
For many young people with Down Syndrome, barriers to further education, social inclusion, and independent living can limit opportunities and confidence. With the right support, they can overcome these challenges and achieve their ambitions.
That is why we created our Social and Learning Provision for 16 to 25-year-olds. Since launching in 2022, it has grown into a vibrant programme offering bespoke foundation learning, life skills, work experience, micro-businesses, and enriching activities. CABWI funding will help support our project based on the University of Sussex campus, strengthened by valued local partnerships and an experienced staff team, where we offer an inspiring, supportive community where young people can grow, achieve, and thrive.
